Social Media is one of the most influential, useful, and quickest ways to reach out to a select audience for a brand or business. There are millions of people who use social media every day, making social media such a powerful and useful tool. When a brand uses social media to announce a new product or address a problem or crisis, the news can spread like wild fire. This is both a good and a bad thing. When good news spreads quickly, its great for business, however bad news spreads even quicker, causing a potential nightmare for any social media monitor.
Being able to control situations and being active is extremely important, and essential for company’s that use social media. Responding to positive or negative posts in a prompt and professional matter is key. As a general rule, for social media crisis situations should be responded to in the quickest amount of time possible, but not before knowledge of the situation is known, so the best possible message can be used.
The other part about social media that is crucial to having success is being able to adapt and change. Social media sites are constantly changing, which for a lot of us who use social media daily can be fun, and interesting because social media is still in its growing phase, in my opinion. Being able to change a profile picture, cover photo or anything else is essential for professional use, to help keep up professional standings even on social media sites. This is critical for businesses.
With social media, news is now 24/7 instead of ending at 5 p.m. or until the next morning when the newspaper is delivered; this is the same with social media. It is never ending, and needs to be monitored closely for anything good or bad. This is the biggest part of having social media sites for your company, business or brand
As this last semester of college slowly wears on, the grind of searching for internships is never ending like a twitter feed. The constant search for an internship is very difficult, and the waiting game is very difficult. Learning to “hurry up and wait” is something that you must learn.
“Patience is a virtue.” This is a saying that I never really understood until now.
I have always been a person that needs to know what the future holds for me, as far as what my next step is. I was offered an internship late last week. For whatever reason this just did not seem to be the right calling for me, so against some of my better judgement I turned down the only Internship offer I have so far. I am still searching for the right one, in Texas or Florida.
Keeping my fingers crossed, and ever searching for the next big step in my life.
The wind up and the CES pitch
This is the blog post is on Livio’s blog. This is about pitching media for CES 2013.
Today was one of those days that you want to splatter all over your social media accounts and brag how everything went right, but in lieu of being that guy, I refrained from tweeting away, and just thought I would write a little here. I went to Livio to help Nicole Pitch for CES that is quickly approaching. I was met with great surprise, when Nicole threw my name in the hat for a possible internship at a very large and successful PR firm. This was only the beginning for my day.
After a very successful day of pitching to big names like Forbes magazine, Men’s Health, Mac Life, and 2 shots of Geek, I was asked by Nicole to take over the Google+ account while they are in Vegas, and to post pictures to help get some +1’s. Nicole also asked for me to write a blog post that will be up on Livio’s website shortly as well, and posted here too.
Like I said, a lot of great things happened today to be very thankful for, and I must say that I can’t believe all this is happening, but I know that I have really worked hard to get here, and I will continue to work as hard as it takes to keep these good things coming.
I am faced with a large challenge of having my own PR Central account this semester, but I am looking forward to the challenges and welcome them, because we will be successful!
stay tuned for the Livio blog post coming soon!
As a new year is upon us, a new goal of writing more is upon me. As I approach my last semester of college, I have a lot to do for this year including but not limited to; school, work, PR Central, wedding planning, graduating, internship, finding a real job and finding a house. There is a lot to be done, but among all this I really want to hone my writing skills in as much as possible so writing here and anywhere I can is a large goal of mine.
That’s all for tonight.
